Jiwon Lim
Jiwon Lim is a Korean painter and illustrator based in Providence, Rhode Island. She received her BFA in Illustration with a concentration in Drawing from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work explores worry, defense, and the ways emotions accumulate across surfaces and relationships. Through layered and subtractive oil painting, she creates ambiguous, fur-like forms that exist between organisms, residues, and psychological structures. She is interested in how internal states are shaped by external environments and how painting can preserve uncertainty without reducing it to a single meaning. During her Englewood Arts residency, she plans to expand this research through larger-scale paintings and experiments with unconventional surfaces and materials.
