Summer Arts Camp

This summer, we encourage youth to unleash their creative potential.
Through art-making,
we facilitate the transformative power of creativity and to acquire the skills needed to bring their ideas to life!

At Englewood Arts, you learn from dynamic instructors who lead you in the creative process and encourage exploration to produce one-of-a-kind projects!

Teen Experience

The 2024 Englewood Arts Teen Experience offers 4 and 5 day intensive workshops in glass, painting and mural installation.

Ceramics Hand Building

CERAMICS

Ceramics Hand Building - with Payton Koranek
In this session, we will create a set of mugs that focuses on using the slab-building technique. Students will learn the fundamentals of clay and get a basic feel of the material. After the mugs are formed, we will finish off the pieces with simple surface decorating techniques and glazes.

2.5 hour duration.

Make-Your-Own Glass

Make-Your-Own is our classic entry-level glass-blowing experience!

This is a single-session hands-on experience where our glassblowers will work with you one-on-one to help you learn more about the tools and equipment used to make your own glass object.

Expanded Glass Lab Experience

Expanded Glass Lab Experience - with Phillip “Swede” Hickok
In this 2-hour hands on experience, you will spend time making several glass objects with the help of Resident Artist “Swede”. This class is the same format as the Make -Your-Own experience but gives you a chance to explore the material a bit more and allows you to have more flexibility on the objects made.

On average 3-4 pieces are made during the class. This class is a perfect continuation of the Make-Your-Own class but no experience is necessary.

2 hour duration.

Glassblowing 101

Glass Blowing 101 is a 2 week, 6-day class where participants will learn all about the fundamentals of materials, tools, and skills needed to transform molten glass into a work of art.

to help you create your one-of-a-kind glass art piece. This is intended for beginners or people who need a refresher with no prior experience necessary.

Glass Blowing 101- Warrior Weekend

Warrior Weekend - Glass Blowing 101 is a 4-day (2 weekend) class that will allow you to deep dive into the world of glass blowing and gain a greater understanding of glass as a material. You learn all about the materials, tools, and skills needed to transform molten glass into a work of art. This workshop is intended for beginners with no prior experience necessary or people that need a refresher.

Live Model Sessions

Live Models Sessions - with DeAnna Skedel
Resident artist DeAnna Skedel will be our session guide for both beginner and experienced artists to work from a nude model. There will be timed poses to warm up, Charcoal, pencils, and colored pencils are provided by the art center and will be available for use during the session.

Artists are permitted to bring their own materials for drawing or painting.

2 hour session.

Youth Monday Ceramics

Youth Monday Ceramics
When Independence schools are closed on Mondays, Come out to the Englewood Art Center and learn to make Clay Sculptures and functional objects with Resident Artist Payton Koranek.
We will learn about form and techniques as our instructor demonstrate how to turn ideas into a 3-d sculpture.

2 hour duration.

Music Lessons

Music Lessons - with Alan Voss
Englewood Arts with Alan Voss now offers private music lessons for Guitar (acoustic and electric), Bass Guitar, Piano (Beginning to Intermediate) , Drums, and Music Theory.
Whether you are just beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced, we offer a fun and welcoming learning environment for all ages.

Englewood Arts offers private music lessons for Saxophone with musician Charlie Gannon. Whether you are just beginning, ae an intermediate, or advanced player, join us for a fun and welcoming all-ages learning environment.

Playing Dress up

Playing Dress-up - with Karen E. Griffin (KE) (Thursday, May 9th)

Resident artist KE will guide this extraordinary 2D dress session portraying your style and personality with textile. This handcrafted introductory workshop and experience; you will form 1-20L x 16W art piece for your home décor or make the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. Guest will explore and learn a how to create a masterpiece with fabric. No experience necessary, bring your friend, imagination, and creatively. Assortment of fabrics and materials provided by the art center and will be available for use during the session.

Mini Quilt Block

Mini Quilt Block - with Karen E. Griffin (KE) (Friday, May 31st)

Resident artist Karen E. Griffin (KE) art quilter will guide this abstract quilt block entry-level session, you will create two 2 - 5 x 5 mini quilt blocks or table art pieces. Within this session you will explore, connection, and create an artistic story with fabric. No experience necessary, imagination and creatively is all you need. Assortment of fabrics and materials provided by the art center and will be available for use during the session.

Englewood Arts Glass Lab studio rental. available to glassblowers with experience.

Glass Lab Studio Rental

Rental available in 3 hour Increments.

@ $90 12” hole

@ $100 16” hole

The Glass Lab is available for experienced glass blowers to rent.

General shop tools available for use and clear glass is included*, no shop colors available.
